Patricia Wolf, a novice but enthusiastic cyclist - takes on the challenge of tackling Cold Fell with the incentive of an enticing lunch at The Gather as her reward. Except Patricia's journey comes to an abrupt halt halfway through the ride, in the depths of Ennerdale Forest.
DI Sam Cobbs receives a cry for help from an old school friend, who runs the renowned cafe, situated in the idyllic beauty spot.
But when Sam and her team arrive, a second woman is reported missing, sending the villagers into a frenzy.
A perplexing investigation ensues, which leaves Sam with the sinking feeling that it is only a matter of time before the sadistic killer strikes again.
